Robert, a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Political Science and concentration on Middle East studies, started his career in telecom in 1997 with the IDT Corporation as a Network Analyst where he supported and implemented telecom routing/switch related applications. In 2000 Robert was asked to join IDT’s subsidiary Net2Phone, the world’s first Voice Over Internet Protocol VoIP carrier. There, Robert became a Senior Sales Engineer in the Carrier Wholesale division. In 2003 Robert left Net2Phone to manage the International Network Development at Global Communications, Inc. until making the decision to make the leap and start RateMAX in 2005.

After graduating from Trinity College Kandy, Bilal started learning computer programming and GW Basic on IBM XT personal computers. By 1990 he had started a small business of developing accounting systems for small businesses. Bilal entered the VOIP business in 1998 terminating inbound traffic into Sri Lanka over public internet. By 2003, he started doing business from the middle east carrying millions of minutes to different countries worldwide.
